Our Story
Founded in 2021, Safe Haven Ministries International was incorporated to help the women in the northern part of Cyprus (mostly foreigners) who were unable to find work. After serving in the area as a teacher's aide and Bible study leader, Sonja, the president and founder of Safe Haven Ministries, felt the need to help women who were struggling to get by. By the help of Faith Community Church (her church back in California) and many other individuals, we have been providing a small income for women in crisis. They are able to work in a safe, encouraging environment and we are teaching skills that they can use to provide income for themselves in the future. We started by making macrame wall art and have since moved to making leather items including bags, wallets and even earrings. The leather is purchased in Istanbul from leftover scraps the leather factories get rid of. Safe Haven Ministries International is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 87-2419242). We are also registered in North Cyprus as a nonprofit.

1 John 3:16-18
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
